UnionPay Chooses Radware to Speed Up Webpages

May 16, 2014

Radware (News - Alert), a provider of cloud application delivery and security solutions, has announced that UnionPay, a Shanghai-based bank card association, has chosen Radware’s Fastview to reduce page load time in order to improve the customer experience online and on mobile devices.

"As we recognize that slow site performance can cause a negative impact on brand perception, it was important for us to improve our customer experience by reducing page load times,” said KeShi Yu, manager of colligation and management at UnionPay.

Fastview is a Web performance optimization (WPO) solution that reduces page load times, accelerating Web apps in real time.

"FastView delivers simplified, streamlined and optimized web pages with the industry's fastest load time," John Zhao, Radware’s general manager of north China.

Yu said that UnionPay had added a lot of information to its homepage, with an increase in page load times. The company considered trying to reduce the load times in-house, but the strain was too much for the company’s own resources.

Wanting to keep its more than 300 million members happy, UnionPay turned to Radware to speed up its webpages and improve its customer experience. Yu cited Radware’s zero downtime and single point of contact among the reasons for choosing the company.

UnionPay was able to decrease the page load times by 65 percent.

While most people might think of customer service solely as face-to-face interactions, there is a significant non-verbal component, especially as more businesses move online. A slow-loading webpage can lead to fast-moving customers… or, rather, customers moving quickly to a competitor.

While companies can do a lot to speed up webpages by doing things like coding simpler pages, the requirements of online banking can lead to slow loading times. The bank bureaucracy extends to coding as well, leading to a market for solutions like those from Radware. Developing faster webpages will ultimately make it more convenient for customers and keep them coming back.
