Improving Wi-Fi Networks with AxonPulse

October 13, 2014

Wireless connectivity is offered by many businesses today as a way to build good relationships with customers. Today, users can access Wi-Fi in retail stores, malls, hotels and offices using their smartphones or other mobile devices. However, the quality of Wi-Fi may vary depending on connectivity and network factors, and this poor quality can have a negative impact on the trust and reliability that users have on the business.

A case in point is the availability of Wi-Fi service in hotels. Almost every guest uses Wi-Fi and research has shown they prefer this amenity over others like complimentary breakfast and free parking. For such travelers, connectivity is important and poor connectivity can keep them from choosing a hotel.

To overcome this problem of connectivity and to provide better Wi-Fi quality, Spirent Communications (News - Alert) Plc has come up with a new product called AxonPulse. This product monitors Wi-Fi networks and measures the experience of users, so that businesses can fix any problem before it affects the end-user. For example, retail businesses can use AxonPulse to test their point-of-sale networks while hotels can test the speed and reliability of Wi-Fi networks before guests use them.

An advantage with AxonPulse is that it can be placed at any access point on the network to monitor for speed. Moreover, it provides real-time analytics that can help businesses to improve their Wi-Fi services to build a better relationship with its customers.

AxonPulse is able to provide this monitoring service with the help of its three core components, namely, AxonCore, AxonPoint and AxonCloud Control. AxonCore provides monitoring and testing capabilities that can be used on any fixed line infrastructure while AxonPoint extends this monitoring to Wi-Fi. In fact, the latter component can gauge the Quality of Experience (QoE) of users as well. Lastly, AxonCloud Control provides an integrated cloud-based portal to view all information and analytics.

Due to these components and features, AxonPulse can be used effectively to build long-term relationships with customers.
