Nextech, Nuance Team up on EMR iPad Application

Nextech, a provider of healthcare technology solutions that helps enhance physician practices, has collaborated with Nuance (News - Alert) to introduce advanced dictation functionalities in its EMR iPad application to improve patient engagement and workflow. Nextech specializes in delivering specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management solutions.


The mobile dictation offering featured in Nextech’s application is powered by Nuance. This feature allows specialists to document healthcare delivery. They can also securely transcribe patient information directly into the record using Nextech’s EMR iPad application.

The Nextech mobile dictation solution, NexSpeak, was included in the Nextech version 11.2 a new version of the company’s software which is certified as a Complete EHR by the certification commission for health information technology (CCHIT), said officials.

Also this enhanced dictation feature will help medical professionals to quickly and accurately maintain all documentation in addition to saving on transcribing costs incurred by physicians in taking notes. Doctors can now give more time to each patient.

According to Christina Majeed, chief product officer at Nextech, this collaboration makes it easy to use the EMR iPad application because of its flexible and highly reliable nature. The increased medical accuracy of Nuance’s cloud-based medical speech recognition technology further ensures perfect compliance and accurate documentation.

“Our integration with Nuance is another way that we are working to meet our clients’ unique workflow needs to increase efficiency and promote better patient care,” Majeed added.

Also Nextech’s EMR iPad application is being featured as Nuance’s mHealth “App-of-the-Month” for April, 2014.
