How electronic visas are changing the way we travel

Electronic visas have been around for quite some time now, but it seems that they boomed in the past few years. More and more countries adopt the electronic visa system, and most of the times it is a means of boosting a country’s tourism. Needless to say, the measure seems to be working, and travelers could not be happier.

Electronic visas do not actually change travel, but they surely change the way we plan our travels. For one thing, your effort of getting the visa is close to non-existent.  That is the reason why people who apply online for their travel document is getting higher every year. Third-party companies that can help with the online visa application process are more elevated in numbers as well. So fortunately for you, you can take your pick the next time you need a visa.

How electronic visas work

The process of getting a visa online is very simple. You basically do online what you would have done if you went to the embassy of the country you wish to visit. Maybe you have done that before, and you know that you prepare a folder of required documents and go to fill in an application.

The online process is pretty much the same. First, you need to make sure that you meet all the requirements. You must ensure that you are eligible for an electronic visa. As you may very well know, not all countries have an electronic visa system, and the ones that do, do not issue e-visas to all nationalities. Once the eligibility is established, you can move forward.

After the eligibility, you need to gather the required documentation before you fill in the application. That makes the whole process more convenient. Each country determines which documents you need. However, there is one thing that all online applications ask of you. We are referring to passports. You cannot get any visa without having one. Usually, the passport needs to be valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in the country you visit. Even so, this requirement is easy to meet since passports are not challenging to obtain.

As soon as you have everything you need, you can fill in the application form. It is an online action as well. Visa services usually compete in creating some of the most simple and shortest forms so that you do not struggle. Most of them even provide customer support to help you through the steps.

Depending on the visa you apply for, as well as the visa service you decide to use, an electronic visa can be ready in just a few hours. Sometimes, it is a matter of days, but very few visas take longer than 5 business days. So, in that department, electronic visas are a whole lot better than consular visas.

As soon as the visa arrives via e-mail in PDF format, you need to print it out before departure. Of course, that is not always the case. What you need to know is that e-visas are electronically linked to your passport, so the need of a physical copy is a bit redundant. Nonetheless, most of the times, you need to print out the document.

Whether you have used the electronic visa system before or not, you have to admit that an online visa application process is more convenient than going to an embassy. By far. It changed and continues to change the way travelers plan their vacations. Not to mention that it improves a country’s chances to receive more tourists. When the visa is easy to obtain, you are more likely to visit a particular country, aren’t you? Nobody likes the hassle a consular visa implies.
