Bullfrog Power and Payworks launch environmental partnership in Winnipeg

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 22 August 2014 Release date- 21082014 - Winnipeg - At the grand opening of its Winnipeg headquarters today, Payworks, an emerging national leader in the field of total workforce management solutions, is also launching a nationwide commitment to renewable energy with Bullfrog Power, Canada's leading green energy provider.

'We are excited to announce this partnership with Bullfrog Power, because it is a significant step towards furthering the green perspective that we established in 2008 with the launch of our Go Green Printing Initiative,' says Barb Gamey, President, Payworks. 'More than 40 per cent of our customer base has already chosen to 'Go Green' with Payworks paperless payroll, and we look forward to continuing to work with our customers, employees, and partners to incorporate environmentally-friendly practices into all areas of our business.' As part of the day's events, spokespeople from Bullfrog Power will be on hand to explain the importance of choosing renewable energy and how Payworks is not only reducing its environmental impact, but helping to advance renewable energy in Canada.

Payworks' partnership with Bullfrog Power means that Bullfrog's generators put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the power consumption of all of Payworks' offices, including its headquarters in Winnipeg and six offices across the country. By bullfrogpowering all Payworks office locations, Payworks is reducing its emissions footprint by more than 400 tonnes of CO2 annually. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

'By bullfrogpowering all of its locations, Payworks is demonstrating that it is in line with a growing number of businesses that are looking to be positive examples in their communities by reducing their environmental impact and supporting the move to a clean energy future,' says Peter Melanson, CEO, Bullfrog Power.

In 2008, Payworks made a commitment, termed Our Green Perspective, whereby the company has incorporated environmentally friendly practices into its business. These practices work towards the betterment of the communities where its customers, employees and partners live and work. The first initiative in the Payworks Green Perspective was the launch of its Go Green Printing Initiative, offering customers discounted pricing to process their payroll online when no output is printed at Payworks.

This allows Payworks customers to receive their payroll reports, employee pay statements and tax forms all in an electronic format, reducing its emissions footprint from the transportation of paper statements. By choosing Bullfrog Power and green electricity, Payworks is yet again taking a leadership role in reducing the environmental impact of its business.
