SAIC to Provide Cloud Offerings to U.S. Federal Agencies and Commercial Customers

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 01 August 2014 Release date- 31072014 - McLean, Va.- Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC)announced today that it is now a reseller of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

As an Advanced Consulting Partner in the AWS Partner Network (APN), SAIC currently integrates AWS into its delivery of cloud offerings to federal and commercial markets.

'SAIC is investing in the expansion of its cloud-computing capabilities to leverage the best available technologies from leading vendors like AWS,' said Charles Onstott, SAIC vice president of Cyber, Cloud, and Data Science. 'The ability to successfully integrate emerging technologies, like cloud computing and data science, is the future of IT solutions.' Recently, SAIC migrated the National Weather Service's weather forecasting software system to AWS, showcasing the power of cloud computing for large-scale, mission-critical applications. The cloud-enabled solution showcased the power of cloud computing for large-scale, mission-critical applications and was demonstrated before a crowd of thousands earlier this year at the American Meteorological Society conference.

The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), whose legacy software is based on client-server technologies, served as the subject of SAIC's demonstration to exhibit how cloud-computing technologies lowers costs and makes systems such as AWIPS more accessible to users by eliminating the need to install and maintain complex software.

'The AWIPS-to-cloud capability aligns exceptionally well with SAIC's cloud systems integration strategy,' stated Onstott.

'We are pleased that SAIC is now an AWS Authorized Government Reseller, making it even easier for government customers to acquire AWS cloud services and harness the power of the AWS Cloud to transform government IT,' said Max Peterson, Director of Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, Inc.
