Autotask, a New York-based professional services automation (PSA) platform provider, has recently launched Autotask Endpoint Management (AEM). A cloud-based remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform for managed service providers (MSPs), AEM marks the company's first foray into the RMM market. The platform is being offered as a result of the company's acquisition of CentraStage, a software-as-a-service (Saas)-based RMM platform provider, in September.

The AEM platform is intended to give MSPs greater visibility and control over all customer endpoints, over any network. It supports a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, OSX, Linux, iOS and Android (News - Alert). MSPs can also use AEM to remotely manage customer's networked devices, servers and smartphones.

This release's primary new features include integrated ticket and remote takeover (RTO), SNMP monitoring for routers, switches, firewalls, SANs and other SNMP-supported networking devices and discovery, population and automatic updating of all managed assets in the platform's Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Also included are software management policies for mobile devices as well as automatic round trip ticket generation and alert closure between AEM and Autotask's flagship IT business management platform.

"Autotask is dedicated to providing a platform that both meets and exceeds our customers' expectations for simplicity, reliability and scalability," said Ian van Reenen, Autotask's General Manager of Endpoint Management Engineering. "Our goal with this release is to showcase the power of our integration and provide exceptional value to our customers by improving their overall business and service operations with a more effective and efficient way to manage endpoints across their entire IT estate."

AEM is currently available in all English-speaking countries, according to the company's official statement on the matter, and support for additional languages is slated to roll out throughout 2015. The company will also launch new integrations between its PSA platform and CentraStage during the coming year, according to a recent statement from Autotask CEO Mark Cattini.

"We view Autotask as a platform, and a really critical piece of functionality is RMM," said Cattini. "We're going to rethink what RMM and PSA can be. You'll see pretty soon some new integrated releases, and early in the new year, you'll see some really innovative ways of thinking about what these two technologies can be."
