Plivo Survey Finds Back to School Shoppers Favor Retail Communications Most

Cloud communications platform provider Plivo recently revealed the results of a recent survey on cloud adoption, which found that retailer shoppers are becoming increasingly open to numerous retail communications channels.

The survey, which compiled the results of more than 2,000 adult citizens of the U.S., found that 87% of participants are open to receiving communications from frequently visited retailers. Interestingly, individuals that have plans to take part in back-to-school shopping reported even higher numbers, with 94% stating they are open to the same communications.

Plivo analysts have thoroughly investigated their findings,  and have discovered that back-to-school shoppers have a higher level of interest in finding deals and specials compared to the average population, with retail communications like email and SMS messages often providing convenient access to that information.

Back-to-school shoppers also provided information regarding their preferred methods of communications with retailers. The survey found that 70% of the group named email as the preferred communication from retailers, with SMS/text messaging and mail following behind at 53% and 32% respectively.

The results of this survey demonstrate the increasingly high impact of communications between retailers and frequent customers, which offer businesses the ability to target campaigns toward customers that are more likely to return frequently. Although more direct methods like text messaging and calling seem to be the option of choice for back to school shoppers, email seems to be the preferred option among most age groups.
